I have less than 10 hours left in Australia. How crazy is that!?! It's hard to believe because I'm so used to being here and life at home feels really distant right now... But on the other hand it's nice to get to live in Finland again!
I'm now in Surfers Paradise and I must say that I actually like this city. I skipped Surfers before because I thought I wasn't gonna like it but it's fun that I now had one full day here! The flight from Airlie to Brisbane yesterday was like 3 hours late but luckily I made it to the last train to Surfers. I arrived here after 10 in the evening which means that almost all the hostels' receptions were closed... I hadn't booked anything but fortunately one guy told me that there's one hotel/hostel that has 24/7 reception. I guess I was very lucky again cause I got the last bed in the whole place! And the Islander is a really nice place - pool and spa and everything ;)
Today I was gonna go to the beach but the weather wasn't that good so I ended up just hanging around the city.. I had my favorite Boost Juicebars all berry bang smoothie for the last time for a while (they should have it in Finland!!) and found a really pretty frangipani flower ring ;) In the afternoon I had my favorite ice cream - latte and macadamia ;) I also went to the beach and tried to capture the feeling of the sand under my feet..
So, now I'll go to sleep and wake up tomorrow at 5 am.. Less than 10 hours left in Australia.. Maybe I shouldn't go to sleep so it would feel longer.. ;)
Well.. yea.. feels weird.. dont really know what to say..
...See you soon anyway ;)

Wednesday, February 27th - Airlie Beach, Whitsundays
Where did one week just disappear?? The closer it gets the faster the time runs...
I just got back to Airlie Beach from the Whitsundays sailing trip. The trip was fun! ;) The company was a real backpacker budget company so the boat, accommodation and food wasn't the best possible, but what can you expect.. But I had a good time anyway and it was beautiful out there! We spent two nights on an island and during the days were sailing and snorkelling and swimming :)
Oh yes, in Cairns I did a one day trip to the Great Barrier Reef which was absolutely amazing! Probably had the best day ever (ok, I've had a FEW of those during the last eight months.. ;) I went on a really luxurious boat which was a bit expensive but def more than worth it! I did three dives and saw a lot of fish and beautiful colourful coral. I also had rented an underwater camera with a huge memory card so I have heaps of pictures and videos! :) The boat was amazing and the weather was perfect! So much fun! :)
Tomorrow I'll fly to Brisbane and on Saturday to KL to visit Laura - yippee ;) And by the way- back in Finland I'll be next Wednesday ;) Can't believe!! See you!

Friday, February 22nd - Cairns
Have you ever noticed how many letters a and o with the dots abowe there are in the Finnish language!?!? I haven't - until today! I have been writing summer job applications and resumes and CVs the whole day and it takes forever to write in Finnish using an English keyboard!! (insert, symbol, insert, close...)
I also got some other stuff done. Booked a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok and a bus ticket from here to Airlie Beach for Saturday night. Tomorrow I'm going diving - yippee! ;) One girl from my room just went on a trip with the same company yesterday and she said it's really luxurious ;) Can't wait! Then in the evening I'll take the bus to Airlie (a nice little 11 hour bus ride.. ;)
Anyway, I found a really cheap place to use the internet so why not put some pics here ass well :)

Wednesday February 20th - Cairns
Hey again! :) So I'm back in Australia! Time has gone so fast again and it's only two weeks left before I'll be back in Finland.. Can't believe that but right now it feels ok to go back and get to unpack my backpack for change ;)
Rarotonga was awesome! I had such a good time and met some really cool people! The feeling on the island is so laid back and it's like a holiday of the holiday to be there :) I stayed in a really nice hostel right at the beach! There was a nice terrace just outside my window and it was like 5 meters to the lagoon from my bed :) I did a lot of fun stuff on the island. One day I went diving and met this huge fat fish that got attracted to us and followed us for the entire dive :) Then I went horse riding which was a lot of fun! We were supposed to be three people but this couple cancelled in the last minute so we ended up being just me and the guide. Obviously we didn't have to worry about other people so we went really fast on the beach and in the bushes and went into the sea with horses and went swimming in a couple on waterfalls and had some fresh fruit from the trees - so much fun! I also rented a bicycle for a few days and cycled around the island a few times (which means that the island is pretty small, only 32 kms :) ) Then i rented a scooter for a few days and I even had to get a Cook Islands drivers license and do this practical test to get that ;) I also had the best ice cream in the world in a fresh baked cone ;) - so good! One day I decided to hitch hike and in addition to a lift to the town I ended up getting to go on a full day glass bottom boat lagoon cruise ;) The locals are so friendly! We went snorkelling and I learned to open a coconut and play this tiny little quitar and had a really good lunch with fresh fish! And all the tropical fruit was awesome as well! Paw paw, mango, banana, coconut and even star fruit tasted unbelievably good when you get it pretty much directly from the tree! :)
Such a wonderful island! If you ever get the chance to go I can really recommend! ;) And I was so lucky even with the weather - they had a really bad storm a couple of days before I went there but it was perfect the whole time I was there! :)
Now I'm in Cairns - it's a bit rainy here but it's like 38 degrees ;) I went up to Cape Tribulation for a couple of days a few days ago. Went to an animal park where you could pet kangaroos and koalas and I even had a snake around my neck ;) Then we did some hiking in the rain forrest and did a crocodile cruise in Daintree river ;) Then I went jungle surfing and was hanging upside down in the middle of the jungle :) Just booked a diving trip for Saturday - can't wait! I didn't want to go earlier because the visibility hasn't been that good because of the weather.. But it's supposed to clear up by the weekend! And on Saturday night I'll take the night bus down to Airlie beach to do the Whitsundays sailing on Monday. The road has been cut for a few days but fortunately I just heard that it's open again! And hopefully I get to go to the Whitsundays because the trips have been cancelled because of the weather again.. But as said, it's supposed to get better. *fingers crossed ;) Some rain is really good for the country but now it's been raining a bit too much - a lot of places are flooded and people's houses are getting ruined...
See you! :) (In Finland in two weeks! ;)
