Hi from the sunny Hervey Bay! :)
Just got back from Fraser Island! Fraser Island is the world's largest sand island and there is more sand in Fraser than there is in Sahara! The island has beautiful beaches both by the sea and the many lakes, sand dynes and great walking tracks in the rainforest. There are a lot of Dingoes which can be dangerous so it's really important not to leave any food outside. It's not allowed to swim in the sea there because of the sharks but the lakes are absolutely amazing! The sand is whiter than anything and the water is so clear and clean that it tastes better than any tap water here! We had wonderful three days and two nights there! I did one of those self drive tours, which means that the company that organizes the tours puts a group of backpackers together and rents us the 4WD and camping and cooking equipment. We were a group of 10 people - me, two girls from Sweden, three people from England and four guys from Canada. Everybody was really nice and we had a good time together! The first day it was raining like crazy and we were soaking wet all the time... But we decided to make the best out of it anyway and fixed a nice shelter with three other cars and had a really fun party in the rain! :) The second day was a bit better and we got so see a lot of nice places on the island and I also got to drive quite a bit! It was a lot of fun but I got the kind of worst part of the beach - the sand was really soft and all the time it felt like we'd get stuck.. But fortunately we didn't ;) And actually the soft sd made the driving even more fun! ;) So, the first two days the weather wasn't that good but today was absolutely perfect! We woke up pretty early because it got way too hot in the tents and drove to the Central Station. Me and Emma from Sweden decided to do a 7 km rainforest walk to Lake McKenzie - the others drove there by car. First we went to Lake Basin which was unbelievably beautiful and there were no other people at all. The sand was so white and the water was really clean and light green - swimming was so nice and refreshing! Then we walked a few more kms and got to the Lake McKenzie which was amazing too - the sand was as white as before and the water clear, but this time light blue! We swam there for a while and then had to head back to the barge. Such a great trip! :)
Now I have to book a bus to Noosa and also a hostel for one night. After that I'll go on a kayaking tour for three days!

Hei Minna! Uskomattomia tarinoita kauniista paikoista. Ripa & Tepa
